Genesis Bio1 biogas plant, at full capacity

The Genesis Bio1 biogas plant in Filipestii de Padure, Prahova county, is currently operating at its maximum designed capacity, almost a year after its inauguration, with the prospect of expansion.

The factory receives more and more offers to take over waste from companies that want to reduce their waste management costs, as well as to integrate their activities in the guidelines of the European legislation which, since 2015, imposes harsh penalties and the payment of substantial fines to waste generators who do not find solutions for an efficient recovery of the organic waste produced, says Cristinel Popescu, manager of Genesis Biopartner.

The first cogeneration renewable energy production plant is a project that belongs to the Genesis Biopartner group (a Romanian-Swedish holding with the Baupartner group of companies and Vireo Energy Sweden as shareholders). The factory has an installed capacity of 1000 kWh electric and 1200 kWh thermal energy.

The electricity produced is injected into the national energy system, while the thermal energy is delivered to the CrisTim group's cold meats factory, providing more than 30% of the cold meats production requirements.

Currently, the raw material processed by the Genesis Bio1 biogas plant and transformed into energy is based both on agricultural production from local vegetable farms, as well as on waste from the category of fats resulting from the technological process of the CrisTim meat processing plant, expired food from companies that have assumed the responsibility of protecting the environment and the importance of their superior recovery, such as Unilever Romania, Agrana SA sugar factory, Starfood group of companies and Danone dairy products factory.
