Visit to the Genesis Biotech biogas plant during the "Green Week"
Genesis Biopartner aims to contribute to the education of the younger generation and decided to get involved in the "Green Week" project by organizing a visit to the Genesis Biotech biogas plant. Thus, the 7th grade students of School No. 195 in Bucharest "learned" how biodegradable waste is recycled, how Biogas and Green Energy are obtained and how the recycling process is completed by providing a new type of environmentally friendly fertilizer. At the same time, they were impressed by the technology and curious, asking a lot of questions to Genesis Biopartner representatives, proving that there is a growing interest among young people in Romania in protecting the environment and preventing climate change.
Climate change and environmental destruction are issues we face nationally and internationally and are major challenges that will impact future generations. Education is one of the pillars towards improving the response to climate change by improving human behavior to protect nature and resources.
Genesis Biopartner is the path to sustainability and its main objective is to change mindsets, which in time will lead to a change in society. Children learned that at the Genesis Biotech plant approximately 60,000 tons of food waste is recycled annually and that through the processed feedstock, the biogas plant generates electricity for nearly 6,000 households, replacing nuclear power and coal.
When we heard about the launch of the “Green Week” program, we wanted to get actively involved, as we believe that educating the younger generation at the right time is a very important aspect. We enjoyed the visit of the children from School No. 195 in Bucharest and I was pleasantly surprised by their intelligence and curiosity. We will continue to participate in such actions in the future.
